About the Author
Ian Taylor grew up in Australia, where he attended radio school, held a wide variety of jobs, performed stand-up comedy at Sydney clubs, and spent his spare time watching "cheesy scifi TV shows" with his friends and making them laugh. In 1995, he began writing his first book, a comedy science fiction novel called Spindle. That same year, he met an American poet named Karen online, and the two became pen pals and close friends. When he finished the first draft of Spindle, he let Karen read it, and she was so impressed with Ian's comedic skills, she fell in love with him. They married in 1998 and have three children. In 2005, Karen published Spindle using a POD publisher, and she now runs the Official Spindle Fan Club and does marketing for the book. Early reviews have been unanimously positive. The Illawarra Mercury called Spindle "a rip-roaring, fast-paced tale in the tradition of Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy." UK humor site Hecklerspray.com added, "All credit to Taylor - a cult fanbase could well be assured before too long." Ian feels fortunate that his first novel brought him not only kudos from the scifi community, but a wife and family as well. He's currently working on a Spindle sequel and a screen adaptation.
