Book Description
From a popular and innovative Turkish author comes a darkly comic tale about humanity's endless and entertaining absurdity, and its futile attempts to create perfection. Kicked out of conservatory in his youth, our narrator wanders exotic worlds before arriving at a city called Motherland. The city's inhabitants never talk about evil events, but the messenger boy murders are different. As our increasingly intoxicated narrator attempts to solve the mystery of the deaths of these seemingly perfect creatures, he dis-covers the city's strange secrets.
A swift, hypnotic tale, populated by outrageous characters: genetically engineered messenger boys; a wolf scientist stock broker; an Indian servant and Shakespeare scholar named Wang Yu; and a monkey called Isabelle.
