From the Author
As a psychotherapist I have found that this brief prayer about serenity, courage, and wisdom has had a profound effect on the lives of many people. The words seem to be especially meaningful to those who are in recovery
from various addictions, and those who are facing difficult personal problems.
Yet - there are also others who have honest and reasonable questions about prayer itself; and thoughtful people who question how there could be a caring "Higher Power" in a world such as this. I have constantly tried to keep such questioners
in mind as I have written this book.
Sometimes people have an idealistic hope for the future without facing the reality before them. Others see reality, but no longer have hope. The value of The Serenity
Prayer is found in its lack of denial of either. It combines both reality and hope.
In this book I've tried to express that basic viewpoint.
The book is divided into seven chapters as follows:
1. God
2. Grant me
3. Serenity
4. To accept the things I cannot change
5. Courage
6. To change the things I can
and
7. Wisdom to know the difference
