Forgiveness in International Politics: An Alternative Road to Peace

Editorial Reviews
Book Description
Forgiveness has found an unlikely political footing in places such as South Africa, South Korea, Northern Ireland, and the former Yugoslavia, according to case studies in the book, Forgiveness in International Politics: An Alternative Road to Peace. Monumental acts of forgiveness have helped offset the myriad forces of un-forgiveness, which include cycles of revenge and distorted memories, and have pointed the way to a "politics of forgiveness."

Through interviews as well as accounts of formal dialogues, Forgiveness in International Politics presents a broad mix of experiences and perspectives. It is a unique book that explores the important role of forgiveness in conflict resolution and peace. "I believe this book will help us find . . . a ‘new home' for forgiveness in the social-political realm," writes Cardinal Theodore McCarrick in the foreword.
