Recipes for Life can be used on three levels. First, it is a cookbook full of healthful dishes bursting with flavor and color. Second, it can guide you through eating fresh, raw foods and other practices that Diamond endorses and millions of people swear have improved their health. And finally, it is a holistic guide for living, which recommends nine Fitonic principles for creating a lifestyle that enhances your spiritual and emotional, as well as your physical, well being.
On the holistic level, Diamond's recommendations are similar to the positive thinking and meditative routines presented by other popular New Age gurus. Her main emphasis, however, is on consuming raw foods.
