The Cake Club : Delicious Desserts and Stories from a Southern Childhood
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
Food writer and editor Susie Quick has built a career on follow-ing the hottest culinary trends across the country. But her passion for great food goes back to a more humble place: her childhood in West Virginia. Surrounded by talented, hard-working women, Susie learned to appreciate the great homemade desserts made by her mother's 'Cake Club'-a circle of sisters, aunts, cousins, and friends who swapped recipes, shared stories, and made life a little sweeter for their community. This delightful cookbook brings together seventy-five delicious recipes from the Club-cakes, pies, cobblers, crumbles, and other treats-reflecting both tradition and the author's flair for simplicity and style. With stories and photos woven through-out, The Cake Club collects wonderful recipes, and pays tribute to a tradition of strong women and the great desserts they bring to the table.
